Just a little posie for you

A Little Posy for You
8x8 inch oil

Here's day 20. I'm going to sign it again. I like when there's a little contrast so I'm not sure why I grabbed that color. Easy fix. What's not an easy fix is the bottom (table) being to thick.

Three White Roses

purchase here

This is a small 5x7 sketch of white roses. I like how it came out but still need more practice with all the shades in white. It's done on oil painting paper which is a new substrate for me. I kind of like how the paint goes on it and the brushstrokes show. I'm selling most of the 30 paintings and hoping to earn some money otherwise this may be the end of my journey. I know art is not something that people need and space is limited. That's why these little guys are great! Anyway, if you've ever considered purchasing my art...well, you know. Thank you for supporting the arts! :)

Just a Rose oil painting

oil on masonite6x6 inch

I love peach, it's my favorite color and has been since I was a child. This shade of corally peach is the best!

Barn time!

8x8 inch

Who doesn't love an old barn? We have a lot of them around here but this one is not one of them. I made this up. So, it doesn't exist...or maybe it does!
This one still has flowers so I didn't break the streak! I have been working on a few different things this month but I'm not done. I think I may have to continue this challenge!

White Roses for Day 16

Blooming in White

Somebody asked if I'd ever painted white roses so I thought I'd give it shot. I kind of like how they turned out but will practice more. Sorry I didn't get the sunflower painting from yesterday listed yet. It's on my camera at least but that won't help you. I did list this one though!

Feeling Tropical

available soon

One of the good things about painting every day is that I don't always feel like it, so when I do finally get to my paints I keep it simple. This was one of those days and the simplicity is what makes it sweet. I could do another larger piece later with more detail but for now I'm happy with this little 8x8 inch. It would be a perfect pop of color. I will be retaking the photo and will get it in my shop this morning, then on to the next one! I feel better today and am going to try and paint 2! I'm going somewhere on Monday which will take all day so I don't want to get behind. Actually I think I may be behind by one already...I'll have to recount. This is day 15 and I'll be posting 16 later today. Thanks for your support! I couldn't do this without you!

Pink Roses in Bloom

Full of Blooms

Here's day 14! Some palette knife roses, just in time for Valentine's Day! I'm really enjoying this challenge and may even keep going when I'm done! I have a bunch of larger painting ideas now, so those will take longer to complete. Thanks so much for all your support and making this possible!

Roses for Day 12

Well. here's day 12. It's more like a sketch or study. I'm trying to simplify roses and there hard for me to paint anyways! I'll have to do more for sure! I have to get this down.

More Sunflowers - Day 11

sold

Another day of flowers and continuing with my loose and juicy simplified style. I added a little more detail to this one and will maybe figure out where I'm going with this. I'll need to go large (at least larger than this little one. It's about 5x7), and might combine oils and acrylics. I mostly use oils but am getting more use to the versatility that acrylics possess. The clean up is a big bonus too. This one even has a few strokes of charcoal in there so it's mixed media.

I've been painting flowers for years now. Before I started painting and posting on this blog, I painted watercolors. I also used color pencils when my daughter was a baby. They were easier to deal with and I could just grab them when she napped. I would sit and draw these detailed country heart wreaths and mostly gave them a way as gifts. I vaguely remember selling one though, that would have been my first art sale. That was way back in 1992. So much time has gone by.

Flowers have always been my passion, which was the main reason I worked as a floral design assistant or a while back in 1994, I think. I found out fast that I much prefer painting them. I could arrange them just find and enjoyed doing so, but cutting the stems with a knife...not my thing. To this day I still manage to kill a few flowers after recutting them when I get them home.

Anyway, flowers are my thing and always have been. After hearing from so many of you, I finally figured it out, just paint flowers. Paint what you love (don't worry, I'll still paint other things too)

Simplifying Flowers

I'm simplifying things! It's always good to simplify to see things clearer. This 30 day painting challenge by Leslie Saeta is a good time for it too! I mentioned before that I had added more detail than I intended to, so I'm going the extreme other way. Cleaning up the clutter! I might do a few of these and maybe try oil. This one is a 5x7 inch acrylic. Not sure if I'm going to sell it as I wasn't even sure if I should share it. It's kind of far from what I've been doing but I want a fresh start to the new year! Now you may have figured out the theme of my challenge so far has been flowers. I was thinking I'd do the first half flowers and the second half landscapes but...I'm having such a fun time with the flower theme I might just end up with 30 florals.

A Little Posy for You!

8x8 inch oil $170
Click for more details

I'm liking the strong shadow against the light background. I can't decide whether to do the next with a completely white background or keep the variance of colors. That's the nice thing about doing one a day! I also got a little detail on this one and had wanted to do the opposite. So many things to thing about while painting. The thing about painting like this everyday is that it will become second nature. I already see another I want to do tomorrow just from looking at this one. This month is going to fly by! I hope yours is going well!

Floral oil painting day 8

Happy Friday everyone! I finished the first week of the challenge! Yay! Only 3 to go!
This one may look a little familiar to you. I did a similar painting in 2014 only smaller. This one is an 8x8 inch oil on hard panel board. I could have loosened up a little more. maybe I'll have to try it again! Have a great weekend to anyone reading this:)

Day 6 Sunflowers

available here
"Sunny Day"
11x14 inch $275

close up shot

This was yesterday's painting but computer problems kept me from posting it until today. I think I'm back in business! My mom and I traveled to town today to make a stop at Trader Joe's where I picked up 3 bouquets of flowers! So much inspiration! I was planning on doing a week of landscapes but plans change. I'm going to work more on florals, juicy paint application, and different color combos. (sorry about the glare on the upper right side)

This was Day 7 but I only took 10 minutes on it and it's a tiny 4x4 inch! My mom and I saw Star Wars today and the 2 hour drive took up most of the day. Back some full paintings tomorrow...of my new flowers!

Daily Painting Pink Peonies Day 4

Peonies With a Chance of Showers8x10 inch oil on ampersand$175
Here's my painting for day 4 of the 30 in 30 challenge. I was inspired by this old paint swatch I found in my purse. The color was called Chance of Showers. It's the beautiful light greyish blue on the upper right. There's peonies, roses, and even a protea in there. I'm still exploring color combos here keeping things soft and muted with bursts of color here and there. I hope you enjoy it!

Day 3 dailypainting more florals

Day 3- 5x7 oil on paper $42

This one is starting to grow on me. I'm trying to explore new color combos. I love the new pantone colors of the 2016, so that's what I'm using for inspiration. It's hard to break out of a comfort zone but this month I'm trying to do just that. At least I am with my art...not real life. But this is going to be a fun time for me. I'm going to try and keep them small and very affordable. You might consider starting your collection with one! I'm posting them on instagram at jbeaudet_art, first, so if you want to catch them before they go (wishful thinking) I'd love for you to follow me on there if you aren't already! Thanks so much for your support!

Winter's Sun and the year is setting

Wow, has this year flown by! I don't know about you but I'm glad it's over. I've had a great year as far as my art goes but with my mom's health it's been a tough one. Next year will be better and I'm really excited about it! My mom is doing great on her medication so far and the frequent doctor visits have subsided a bit. We don't have to go for a month! We have been going about once a week since September so it will be nice. The drive is no fun! We do make the best of it though and I'll miss our weekly shopping excursions.
In the studio, I'm still working on, working larger. This one is a 16x20 inch acrylic. It's nice to take a break from the oil paints for a bit. But I'm already missing them.

The winner is announced!

on my easel today

I've been working on some figures lately and still have a few more of the series to get to. The winner of the giveaway is Shelly G.! Thank you so much for all of your entries! Look for more in the future!

I hope you're all enjoying the season! We're getting our tree today (while it's not raining!) and might decorate this weekend. My mom is feeling good, a little tired because of the Chemo pill. Here white blood cell and platelet count has dropped to a critical level so we're being cautious about things. They took her off of it and waiting for it rise before continuing. Please keep her in your thoughts.
I'm staying very busy painting and time is flying by! We're all going to Hawaii in the Spring for a girls getaway! I can't wait! Happy Holidays if I don't get back here…but I should. :)

Oh! I'm offering Buy One Get One Free giclee prints through the weekend! Pop over to my Etsy shop to check it out! https://www.etsy.com/listing/202205183/buy-one-get-one-free-giclee-print?ref=shop_home_active_6
