Merry Christmas from J Beaudet Studios

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas red cabin painting by J Beaudet z

Hi! I want to wish you a Merry Christmas! I hope you have a wonderful day! I'm alone today, until tonight. My hubby had to take a temporary chef job while looking for something permanent. We are planning to pop over to my mom's tomorrow but only outside. My daughter and sister will stop by too, so I'm really looking forward to that. I've been here alone, all week! We're trying to limit our time with others and I'm home from work so it's just me and my studio. I'm getting a lot of computer work done and am just finishing up a commission. I had a request for a smaller version of the last one.

Not the greatest photo. It was dark when I finished but I think I did a pretty good job painting a new one, just smaller. It still has the energy and loose quality. Now, on to the next. One nice thing about being home from work is I'm devoting my time to my art business again. I just need to paint and stop dwelling on my name or my Facebook reach. What happened on there!? It's like I got completely shut off. Was it something I said?

Anyway, back to Christmas cheer! Maybe some eggnog...😏 Cheers!

Same artist New Name! Jennifer Beaudet - Artist Whose Passion Kept Her Going...now Jen Beaudet Z

Same artist New Name! Formerly Jennifer Beaudet - Artist Whose Passion Kept Her Going now Jen Beaudet Z

Field of Flowers oil painting J Beaudet Studios

Artpromotivate: Jennifer Beaudet - Artist Whose Passion Kept Her Going: Spotlight on California, USA artist Jennifer Beaudet, featuring Modern Impressionist paintings.

Hey guys! I wanted to share this interview I did for Artpromotivate. 2013. It shares a little bit about my inspiration, education, and my process. I was going by Jennifer Beaudet then, because...well...that was my name. I have recently been trying separate myself from another oil painter with the same name. I would have used my middle name but she beat me to it! And it turns out we have the same middle name too! It's enough to make you crazy. It wouldn't bother me except her website comes up when I do a search for my name. All my paintings come up, but I'd kind of like this website to come up first since I've been at this since 2009. So...since I just got married in September 2020, I figured it's a good time for change. Previously, I had been signing my work J Beaudet, but from now on it will be J Beaudet Z. Hopefully you will not be confused. I'm still going by Jen Beaudet but now there's a Z at the end, for Zondervan...my new Dutch hubby.

Anyway, I'm so happy with my new name and hope this works to separate myself from the rest! After racking my brain, trying to come up with something that makes me different, I realized I'm a left-handed artist! Only 10% of the population is left handed, so I think that makes me kind of unique. It's funny, but losing my name felt like a loss of my identity! Like identity theft. It's a weird feeling. I had to search for who I am all over again. I was Jennifer Beaudet for 30 years and J Beaudet, the artist, since I was in college. The fact we share the same middle name is just unreal! Not that it matters, because you can't hear the pronunciation, but I say it "Boday" like Monet, she says Beaudet like "debt" (sorry, I couldn't think of another example). So how we differ is, I'm left handed and pronounce it Boday, I'm from California and I'm older....(by only 2 years, but still) Haha! So now, I'm moving on...New year, new name...

J Beaudet Zondervan (the cool thing is it's Dutch like Van Gogh!

I'd love to hear other artist's thoughts about this. Has anything similar happen to you? Or maybe you have another suggestion? You can email me @ jbboutique@yahoo.com or comment here

New loose expressive floral paintings by J Beaudet Z

New loose expressive floral paintings by J Beaudet Z

30x40 inch acrylic on canvas
NFS

I am loving this one so much. The photo got a little washed out on the left from the sun but you can see the movement and energy this one has. I think the acrylics have an oil paint feel to them. I actually like how it started out but I needed to add yellow for my client. I'm definitely going to explore more like this.
It reminds me of some of my earlier work but large. It feels great to get back to my expressive paintings! I may have been having an artist's block caused my my dad passing away and then the virus but I think I past that! Whew! If anything good came out of this third shutdown, at least I found my voice as an artist again.

Have you found new passions or maybe a renewed passion? How have you been coping? I'm in California so you might know we're shutdown again and I'm a hairstylist, so that means I'm home for a few weeks. It's frustrating, but I totally understand and am all for getting this under control. My daughter is an RN and has definitely seen the cases skyrocket, recently. I worry about her. I also worry about my sister who is also an RN. We're staying away from my mom and step dad but it's pretty hard not to see them. I feel so bad for people who are alone right now. I'm so fortunate to have someone to spend my quarantined days with.

I plan on posting more the next few weeks and painting some more juicy, loose, and yummy paintings!

Here's a few older paintings that have the same feel...Most are much smaller. All have sold but I will be offering some new ones soon!

There are a few more but basically there is a certain style I can see in the way I paint. Each of these paintings just "happened" without any fuss and that does come through. It's not always easy...

Jennifer Beaudet on Youtube!

Here's a lovely video of my paintings created by Lee Downs of AAA on Facebook. Check it out!

I'm home again (lockdown)...so I'm going to focus on my art. I just finished a house portrait for a repeat customer. Actually, it's almost finished...just have to add some purple flowers in the front. I think the pink tree came out pretty nice and it make me want to paint some more trees.

I have a lot of people painting my woman in red "The Night Approaches" Some people contact me to share their copy and I love seeing them but sometimes I just stumble across them on Pinterest. I wish I could set up a way that people can share their copies in one spot.

Have you tried it? Or do you have any ideas on how to make a sharing spot?

New paintings of San Clemente California by Jen Beaudet Zondervan

I'm working on loosening up...once again. I want my paintings to be more fresh and clean. I love working with a palette knife, but sometimes I get a little too much texture.

The tree painting is inspired from a walk in Rancho San Clemente. It was during quarantine and everything was so amazingly beautiful that day. I think it was still March.

8x10
$175

11x14
$225

This one is not finished but you can see where it's going. It's San Clemente, California at my favorite beach called Calafia. I still have to add the railroad crossing in this one. I thought about not adding it but anyone that knows the area might wonder. I think this spot is memorable because of the palm trees lined up. I love it because of all the beautiful Bougainvillea everywhere. It's amazing how it blooms all year round (or at least it seems to). Anyway, I'm still working on it and may add some clouds.
Both will be available in my etsy shop soon but feel free to contact me if you're interested.

A little about how it works...

You supply the photo and I'll come up with an adorable painting of your house, vacation, wedding, or any of your photo ideas. I add flowers and take out distracting items. We'll work together to create a beautiful keepsake to adorn your home.
This is a perfect gift for new home owners!

 completely happy with it.

My art is colorful with a modern impressionist, contemporary style.  I like to use rich oil paints with both brushes and a palette knife to achieve lots of texture. I enjoy painting travel scenes like Italy, California and Hawaii, fields of flowers, as well as tropical landscapes and Country French and coastal decor.
Giclee prints, which offer fine quality archival inks and substantial rag paper are also available on here.

I have been painting commissioned paintings for my collectors since 2009. Over those years I have done roughly 100 custom paintings and have received rave reviews!
Here's a few of my 5 STAR Reviews-

Love my new oil painting. Jennifer painted this for me using a picture I took in Venice and it looks even better then I expected. This is the third oil painting I’ve ordered from Jennifer and probably won’t be the last.

In My Studio Today...

red poppies painting by Jen Beaudet Z of California

I am having such a great time painting again! I am using this time to remind myself of how great it is to be a full time artist. I know I will get back to that point again someday soon! Just have to keep a balance. I'm still not back to the flow I had before with my postings...the photo I took is a little blurry so I'll need to get my good camera out.

So this is a burst of spring poppies! I hope it brings joy to someone's home. I'm watching YouTube videos from inspiring artists, learning new tips all the time! Thank you for posting them for free!

What are you doing with all your extra time?

Revised- this is the new one!

How Will Covid-19 Influence Our Creativity?

Floral Abstract "Hope Through The Mist" by J. Beaudet

Artists over the years have been inspired by turmoil. Uncertain times can bring out the most emotional works of art, and tells a story of the history of that time. Art movements are a reflection of the time. I wonder what this movement will be. Simple times, getting back to basics? An appreciation of nature?

I know, as an artist, I've always been inspired when emotions are high. Sometimes it's been from grief or despair, but also love and the emotions that come from exploring new places. What's happening in our world today, is different. It's brought feelings I've never had to deal with in my lifetime, and I'm sure you're with me when I say I can't wait for it to be over. I'm not sure how life will have changed or how I will have changed, but I do know that my art will change. It's already changing.

I think art in general will change. I don't know what that change will be but that's my opinion. It will be interesting to look back and see what creatives bring to it! And this won't just be visual art, but music and film, theater and of course technology. I have to include that because there are some seriously creative people in the tech world. It's going to be so interesting to see this movement manifest.

This new creation of mine is a new beginning...

5 Reasons To Buy Art Direct From The Artist During A Crisis or Anytime

  1. You're stuck at home and discover a lot of blank walls or even worse, walls filled with nothing special.
  2. Uplift the spirits of someone dear to you. This is a stressful time for all of us. How wonderful would it be to receive a personal gift like art? Giving art as a gift is special. It's much more personal gift card, and last a lot longer than a bouquet of roses! Your gift to your love one will be displayed and appreciated daily. Not tucked away in a drawer or even worse, re-gifted!
  3. Buying art directly from the artist has a powerful meaning. You're not only supporting them so they can create more but you're bringing someone's creativity to your home. It's original, fresh, and alive!
  4. You're helping the economy.  Many artists support themselves or at least supplement their incomes through their art.
  5. You're supporting the arts! Art is an important part of our society and our world. It enriches lives with beauty, intrigue, mystery, fantasy, and more. Art is seen throughout our history, from the time of cavemen. We can't stop making it. It's not the times of the Medici, when patrons supported their artists...or is it? You are our patrons. You are our Medici family.

Can you think of other reasons to buy art directly from the artist?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It means so much! With your support, I am able to buy more supplies, pay bills, continue my therapy, and share my passion for our beautiful world! We need beauty in our lives...especially in times of crisis.

New Pink Peonies by Artist Jen Beaudet

New Pink Peonies by Artist Jen Beaudet...art therapy and social distancing

Available soon
Here's a new piece in my studio! Times are a little strange at the moment, so I'm taking this emotion and putting it into painting. It's such great therapy. You should try it! I feel like more art is going to be created in the following months than ever before! I hope I can add some beauty and peace to our lives...we all need some distraction and what's better than beautiful flowers?

My daughter helped me with the color on the table. I originally had it a yellowish color but we decided the dark gray was less distracting. I kind of like the glass as is. What do you think? Add some more detail or keep it simple? I'm going to fix the left side of the table top so that it's not smudged. I put this color down right before I had to run off to work!

I'm learning a new workflow and trying to be flexible! I used to have a schedule for my art (when that was all I was doing). Wake up, social media, learn new strategies...while drinking my coffee. Get ready and get in the studio and paint! Post my new one...repeat.

Now, I'm back in the workforce, for now...so I need to use my time wisely, painting in sprints not marathons. I'm a quick painter so this works for me! It's just a matter of getting in the studio and getting in the paint! I work at supercuts and we're definitely slow right now. I'm going to use this time to create instead of worrying too much. I wish you all good health and hope to bring you a little break from this unprecedented time.

Thanks for your visit. Talk to you soon!

Art for a Cause

Twitter Art Exhibit 2020

I'm so happy I finished this in time for the 2020 TwitterArtExhibit! This year's charity is for Horry County Disabilities & Special Needs. Such a great cause to donate to! I loved painting this little piece and love the cause it's going towards. I hope someone falls in love with it at the show.

I found some other entries from the past, and feel like this one is maybe a little more primitive, even though I've been painting longer. It could be the brush size I used and it's also acrylic instead of oil paints. They all have an impressionist feel but the colors are a little more complex than the new one. I go back and forth and I know that's not what an artist should do. It's like I have a split personality! I wonder if it's determined by my mood.

I revisited some paintings from years ago to get inspired. I need to get back to painting just because I love it so much. No pressure to make my next masterpiece or sell it. Just for the love because it's my passion. I feel like I got lost somewhere. These paintings below are also larger than the new one which changes the amount of detail when using a larger brush.

available as a print

Sometimes simple is better. What do you think? I like the new one but I'm going to try it in oils to see if that's the difference.
